Frequently Asked Questions

The practice that I posted in the comments formatted weird. How do I make it look right?

Sorry about that! Unfortunately, our comment system doesn’t seem to play nice with Microsoft Word. To fix your comment, click the little “Edit” button underneath the comment. Then, you can go in and fix the line breaks.

To make sure it doesn’t look all ugly in the first place, you can copy and paste your writing piece from a plain-text editor like Notepad (for PC) or TextEdit (for Mac).

I want to get feedback on my writing. Why isn’t anyone leaving me any comments?

The Write Practice is a vibrant community, and all communities work through the power of reciprocity. In other words, if you comment on other people’s writing pieces, people will probably comment on your pieces. I encourage you to treat this community like a bank. The more love you put in, the more love you’ll get back in return.

And if you’re still not getting feedback, email me and I’ll comment on your writing. :)

Why do the comments change order?

By default, our comment system, DISQUS, sorts the comments based on how “popular” each comment is. That means a comment will move up or down based on how many replies or up-votes it gets. To change the way DISQUS sorts the comments for you, click the button “Discussion” and select a different option.

Can I write a guest post for The Write Practice?

We love guest posters, and you’re quite welcome to write something for us. Check out our guidelines here. Unfortunately, we’re sometimes a little backed up, and it may be several weeks before we can post your article. However, check with us and we’ll let you know.

Do you have any other questions? Leave them in the comments and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
