New Years Party

This is my 170th post.

There was a moment, about two or three weeks into this experiment with the Write Practice, that I came close to having a panic attack. How will I write something new everyday? What if I run out of ideas? What if I fail? I nearly quit.

My New Years resolution for 2012 is to be grateful for 2011.

New Years resolutions don’t last long anyway, so I figure I might as well use that energy to love myself a little bit. Love is a funny thing. You have to love yourself to love others. It is also a skill and, like all skills, can be practiced.

I am grateful for 170 posts, for the the endurance and focus that it took. I am grateful for all the new friends I have made through The Write Practice, particularly Tom, Kati, Audrey, and Ryan, who were among the first to see the potential of The Write Practice for their own writing.

I am grateful that The Write Practice was named a top ten blog for writers.

Most of all, I am grateful I married my wife this year. She has settled me and grounded me. I would not be writing this blog if not for her. Plus, she’s fun to hang out with.

What are you grateful for in 2011? What writing projects are you grateful for? What life events are you grateful for?

Share your self-love in the comments. And feel free to link to any writing achievement in the comments. We’d love to join you in gratefulness for this year.
