What Writers Are Saying About Joining The Write Practice

Thanks to The Write Practice I have completed a second draft

“Before stumbling upon The Write Practice, I'd tried to write novels without success. Thanks to Joe Bunting and his creative team, I now have a decent second draft of my first novel. I have a beta-reader lined up, as well as a professional editor expecting a manuscript from me in a month. I wouldn't have come this far without the tools and instruction provided by The Write Practice.” Cara B.

Five Stars

“Without the support and guidance from The Write Practice team and the encouragement of other writers in the program, I would not have completed my manuscript. “ Robert D.

“Super excited to get involved with The Write Practice community. Thank you so much for creating this amazing resource.” Andrew S.

I know how hard it is to become an author because I’ve been there.

My name is Joe Bunting, and I’m a Wall Street Journal bestselling author and ghostwriter of over a dozen books. I’ve also trained thousands of people on how to write books of their own.

But writing books didn’t come to me naturally. In fact, I failed at finishing books for years.

In college, I even studied creative writing, but that just made it harder since I knew how bad my own writing was compared to the writers I loved.

After college, I worked as a journalist and then traveled the world to write.

But every time I tried to write a book, I failed miserably.

Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever had a great book idea, tried to write it, and then failed?

Joe Bunting

If you've tried and failed to write a book before, you're not alone.

In fact, I talk to writers every day who are struggling with things like:

  • Fear that everything you write is terrible
  • Writer's block
  • Lack of time to write
  • Not enough discipline to finish
  • Running out of ideas
  • Worry that you will never finish your book

And that doesn't even include all the problems trying to get published brings.

For me and so many in our community, here's what changed: the process of deliberate practice transformed my writing.

What is deliberate practice? For practice to be deliberate, it requires five criteria:

  1. Theory. You have to learn the writing craft.
  2. Practice. Learning isn't enough, though. You need accountability to put those lessons to practice and do the work of writing.
  3. A coach. You need a mentor who can show you the process.
  4. Feedback. We all need feedback on what's working in our writing and what's not, both from professional editors and writing peers.
  5. A team. Writing is hard, and you need encouragement and support from a community of people to help you keep going.

For me, I didn't finish my book and become an author until I had each of these five things, and this is also true for thousands of other authors in our community who have finished and published their books.

After that first book, I wrote more books, more than a dozen now. But if I hadn't learned deliberate practice, I would still be stuck today.

If you think you can write a book on your own, you're destined to continue to fail at finishing your book.

But once you have the right process, you can finally experience what it's like to hold your published book in your hands. (It's an amazing feeling. Trust me.)

We've helped thousands of writers in our community transform from aspiring writers into published authors, and we want to help you, too.

Our Beliefs

Here's what we believe

We believe everyone can become a great writer through deliberate practice.

As said above, deliberate practice has five components:

  • Theory and knowledge
  • Practice (putting that knowledge to practice)
  • Coaching
  • Feedback
  • Community

Everything we do centers on those five components because we've seen how deliberate practice can transform people from aspiring writers to published authors.

We believe everyone has something important they have to share with the world.

To do that you have to create a plan that works.

You need a process to get to “the end.”

And you have to learn how to write and edit in such a way that you can make an impact.

We believe everyone can get published.

The problem is most people don’t know where to start.

In our classes and programs, we demystify the process and break down the steps, and we give you the encouragement along the way to make it happen.

Finally, we believe authors only succeed when they’re part of a team

Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf, Stephen King, and Mary Shelly didn’t do it on their own.

They had a team.

We can help you design and build your team of coaches, editors, peers, agents, publishers, publishing professionals, and even writing software tools.

Do you resonate with these beliefs? If not, that's ok. We're not for everyone. But if you do, we'd love to have you join our community.
