A fellow writer tweeted that she deleted 16 pages because she didn’t like the direction her novel was headed. You could hear the sense of accomplishment in her words. My heart stopped (ok, not literally).
Did you see them? The people in the car in front of you. The person at the table next to you.
All around you are people. Each one of those people has a story. Each one of those stories needs to be told.
Did you see them? Or did they go unnoticed? The person in the car behind you. The people at the table beside you.
Writing is like building a home in that good writers view from the work of others. They learn, copy, and expand.
Simply put: good writers read.
