About This Coach

Jake, with over twenty years of writing experience, is a certified book coach, screenwriter, and an author of over two-dozen books in the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres.
He attended The Art Insiititute for Media Arts and Animation, and then FullSail University for Creative Wriiting for Entertainment, and was published in their magazine, The Aviator, multiple times.
While writing has always been his true passion, he has also always been an artist, and gamer at heart, and these three tools together have given Jake a unique perspective that he believes to be useful in developing not only structure, but character personalities, dialogue, and story twists and turns that most writers don’t consider or are even aware of.
While pursuing his own writing goals and projects, he has come to find a passion in helping other writers develop and improve their stories, and abilities.
He aims to help as many as he can avoid the real life trope of having that novel they always wanted to write, but never did.
After all, the saddest story is the one never told.

Omega Virus: Beta Hour (book one) by Jake A. Strife

Scifi/Horror

Zach has always been a master of Survival Horror video games. Naturally, he always thought he’d be ready for the Zombie Apocalypse. Don’t all gamers think the same? But when the undead take over his school, the city, and possibly the entire world, he learns he was dead wrong. Alongside his fellow gamers, and a self-proclaimed, ‘Zombie Killer’, he must navigate this new world, and learn to contend with more than just those infected with the virus. To save his friends, he must face religious fanatics, a corrupted government, and an entire company of psychopaths that think it's all a game. To survive, a serious lesson must be learned; kill or be killed, pull the trigger or die; and most of all, sacrifices must be made. This. Is. No. Game.

Dark Dayz: VR Dawn (book one) by Jake A. Strife

Scifi/Lit RPG

It's finally here. DARK DAYZ. The world's first true Virtual Reality MMO releases, and one million exuberant gamers log in for the first time. One minute, the game is a light-hearted fantasy adventure. Kill that wolf, gain XP. Do this quest, get a reward. But then the sky darkens. The beautiful world warps before the players' eyes... Plant life wilts... Low-level beasts collapse, howling in agony... The main city hub melts away, and in its place appears a macabre, hellish kingdom. High-level monsters invade the forests, while NPCs turn violent, and slaughter all in sight. Panicked, the players try to log out. But the button doesn't work. And no one is respawning. Pain becomes real. Death becomes real. On the outside, the logged in, die one by one, and communication from within the game ceases. A terrorist claims responsibility, and issues a single demand. The world’s best gamer must enter DARK DAYZ and make it to the final zone. There they must challenge and defeat the hacker known as Z. Only then will the nightmare end. After a week of terror, someone steps up. One gamer is brave enough to enter the virtual hellscape. Zycuh Hunpo. He's won tournaments. He's won more money than he knows what to do with. But with zero friends, and a horrendous homelife, what does he have to lose? Zycuh believes he can do it. Get to the end. Take down Z. And become the greatest hero of the twenty-first century. Maybe then others will see him as more than just a famous gamer with pockets full of cash. But can he do it? Can a gamer who has completed every challenge in his life, solo, and never even played an MMORPG, possibly make it to endgame? One thing's for sure. He'll need a party. He'll need allies. He'll need... friends. One million gamers logged into DARK DAYZ. Now... it's one million... and one.
