100 Day Book Word Count Critiques

Get professional feedback from our team of editors weekly

One of the best parts of the 100 Day Book program is the opportunity to get feedback from other writers. Every week, as you critique three writers, you receive three critiques in return, and the experience of giving and receiving feedback spurs your story creation.

Sometimes you want a professional opinion of your writing, too. Wouldn't it be nice if a professional editor could step in and tell you what's working in your story and what's not? To show you where you might be going off the rails and give you ideas for how to get back on track?

The 100 Day Book Word Count Critique is your opportunity to get feedback from an editor on our team as you write your book. We'll read the chapter(s) you submit for your weekly word count and post a critique.

This might be just the boost you need to write the next chapter of your book . . . and the next, and the next.

What You'll Get

An editor on our team will read your weekly word count and post a critique in Becoming Writer. You can purchase a single critique for a specific word count or packages for several critiques.

If you purchase a package, you will be able to select which weeks you would like your word count critiqued.

You can also sign up for professional critique on all your word counts throughout the 100 Day Book program. Each week, an editor on our team will read and critique your word count. At the end of the 100 days, you'll have a catalogue of professional critiques you can revisit as you begin your second draft.

FAQs

When is the best time to get a professional critique?

That's up to you! Your primary goal in the 100 Day Book program is to finish your first draft. A professional word count critique might be right for you when:

  • You're feeling stuck and don't know where to go next.
  • You're feeling discouraged and frustrated and need a morale boost to write more.
  • You're excited to write and have loads of ideas, and you'd like some guidance on what would work best for your story.
  • And more!

I don't want critiques while I'm writing my first draft, but I'm interested in getting help from an editor when the draft is complete. Can I get weekly critiques on my second draft?

The weekly word count critique is only available while you're writing your first draft. Once you're done, the Story Grid Diagnostic is the perfect tool to help you navigate your second draft.

When will I receive my critique?

You'll receive your critique within a week of posting your word count in Becoming Writer.

Will this replace critiques from other 100 Day Book participants?

No. You'll still be expected to read and critique three other writers' word counts each week. You'll also continue to receive critiques from other writers. This critique will be in addition to the feedback you're already receiving.
