So far in the 100 Day Book program, John has provided plenty of encouragement and support and has helped me stay motivated to keep working on my project. His suggestions and feedback have been very helpful, and I'm looking forward to our continued work over the next couple of months.
I felt excited to have a coach as this was my first time. Having to report on my progress and discussing my manuscript really fired me up. Kyle was (and is) very supportive and positive, and I have already asked him to take my manuscript under his competent wings.
I really enjoyed talking with Kallista Ann. She helped me see my writing process from a different angle and gave me some great new ideas to try.
Alicya is talented, a writer and a helpful, collaborative editor. Thanks 10 stars.
Kyle was great to work with and I look forward to working with him again soon.
Sue has a present, calm energy and does her work with both heart and head. Highly recommend her!
I really like working with Kallista. She has tons of knowledge and helps me work through places where I am stuck.
Alicya was amazing to work with! Her meticulous notes she provided for each chapter are very beneficial as I work through this next round of revisions. She read through my novel twice, and that showed as her insight into my plot and characters was spot on! I feel like she truly “got” my story, and so when we discussed various things in the Zoom meeting, it was easy to understand her feedback as well as bounce ideas off of her and work together to improve scenes, characters, etc… A fabulous experience from start to finish. I would absolutely work with Alicya again!
Kyle Cisco is solid, confidence-inspiring, and helpful. He helped answer genre questions I've puzzled over for 20 years, unfortunate questions that held my work's completion hostage.
Very enjoyable and productive process. Kallista provided great feedback and suggestions. I feel better about my story idea! Thank you
Sue Hacking is an exceptionally experienced writing coach. She continues to amaze me with how she zeroed in on the help I need to make my writing clearer and more understandable. I am grateful for her writing knowledge and ability to share so generously. I value her suggestions.
It's evident that Sue loves memoirs! And, she loves working with budding memoirists. I found her to be caring, and her suggestions to be helpful. She helped me to properly classify my memoir, and discussed concepts that I would not have considered.
Kyle was both sympathetic and clear in his Manuscript Critique and pointed me to the main things that needed to be fixed in my second draft. Super helpful.
John and I had a few technology problems this morning but over the past few meetings that I have had with him I have found him to be both very encouraging as well as very, very helpful in the ideas he gives me and how to fix problems in my writing that I struggle with. So overall it has been wonderful to work with John and I really appreciate everything he is doing to help me with my writing.
Alice's insights were a revelation. She not only helped me to understand my story better, she set out a clear plan to help me achieve the improvements we agreed on. She listened carefully to my ham-fisted attempts at explaining my story, then pulled it all together in a way that made it so clear. By the end of the process, this first-time author had a clear understanding of the book's strengths and weaknesses – and mine – and I felt energised for my next draft. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Alice again.
Kyle was very thorough in his critique of my manuscript. He offered some intriguing insights into my story that I hope to explore more after they sink in. He was open to my questions and his feedback will help me prepare for my next draft.
Kallista Ann's critique and the points she raised are eye opening and honest which I appreciate. Kallista Ann has also raised some possible solutions to the weaknesses in the book eg., plot and dilemma. She has an amazing insight and flow of language and certainly knows her stuff. Many thanks to Kallista Ann!
I loved working with Sue. She is friendly, and personable while still getting to the point and offering concise guidance. Very helpful!
Sue Hacking is an outstanding writing coach because she listens with her eyes, ears, and heart. As a beginner writer, I have much to learn, starting with the basics, such as English Grammar, Composition, and word processing. So, the learning curve has been steep. Sue understood where I was developmentally and met me at the starting gate. I can be me with Sue. I don't have to be perfect (as if I could). I look forward to her feedback and then deep-diving into the fun of revising. I am grateful for Sue's time, talent, and willingness to spend time with me. One of my writing goals is to be a better writer and Sue is helping me towards that goal. Just Keep Writing. Anna Christine
Game changer! Kyle Cisco's skills as an editor are exceptional. His keen insight in spotting my story's vulnerabilities and his gift for offering clear, actionable strategies empowered me to refine my narrative and truly capture the essence of the tale I longed to tell. Kyle's insights opened up new possibilities I hadn't considered, pushing my story in exciting directions. For any writer serious about improving their craft, Kyle is the editor you want in your corner.
I found her one on one coaching hour call very valuable and incredibly helpful!
Sue Weems is very professional in her work. She gave me really good ideas and suggestions.
Jamie is truly awesome. She has provided great input for polishing my manuscript as well as encouragement to keep going. I would definitely recommend her services!
Kyle Cisco was my first one-on-one coach, and working with him was the best part of the 100 Day Book program. Kyle is empathetic and encouraging. He delivered gentle critiques and helpful insights that I never would have understood from a regular lesson. My novel is so much better after this round of editing because of his input and guidance. I now feel confident and ready to move forward with professional editing and beta readers.
I enjoyed working with Sue. This is the first time I have had copy editing done and she made the process easy. She was very accessible.
Working with Kyle was a great experience! He was very knowledgeable and experienced in my genre. He asked intelligent questions and shared his suggestions for my book plan.
I look forward to working with him as my coach in the future with the coaching option for the 100 Day Book program!
John Malnor has been a pleasure to work with. His expertise, professionalism, and support has been pivotal in helping me meet my goals. He provides respectful, knowledgeable reviews and suggestions. His guidance is invaluable and I would highly recommend John as a mentor and book coach.
Sue is an excellent teacher and a good listener. Her feedback is direct and helpful. I know I can always go back to Sue with questions. As a new creative nonfiction writer, I hope there is potential inside of me. Sue would not be putting time, energy, or knowledge into helping me if she didn't believe I had potential. She would say, “Maybe being a sailor would be a better use of your time.”
Kallista is great at giving feedback on a scene-by-scene level. She helped me see the minor issues I was having with my scenes and helped me brainstorm ideas to fix them. Her coaching is fantastic.
John Malnor has been a pleasure to work with. His expertise, professionalism, and support has been pivotal in helping me meet my goals. He provides respectful, knowledgeable reviews and suggestions. His guidance is invaluable and I would highly recommend John as a mentor and book coach.
Jamie has provided much-needed insight into my writing's weak areas. It's amazing how a few minor changes can make a huge difference. I've enjoyed the experience and the knowledge I've gained will serve me well in the future.
Sue Hacking is a fantastic writing coach who will tackle the tough stuff I must face as an underdeveloped writer! She does not shy away from “I tip my head” when I read that! I felt embarrassed, as if I had done something wrong, but a millisecond later, I opened my hands, heart, and brain and wanted more of her expertise. (Please don't focus on my feelings—I'm a retired psychologist and love exploring my reaction to the world.)
I'm back to evaluating Sue Hacking as my writing coach. I needed to know a little more about her, so I purchased Take A Walk—Seattle, which she published from 1997 to 2017. Personally, I think we have a lot in common, as my parents are from Seattle. You most likely want me to stay professional rather than personal, but the personal is essential. Enuf.
This will address your question: How did it go with Sue Hacking? She can help me become a better writer. Over the next six months, I hired Sue to read and edit my essays. As a new, underdeveloped writer, this is a bold and courageous step for me, but it is essential. I expect to be revising and revising. I expect to get whacked around, but as Grace Paley said, it is so elegantly that being whacked once in a while is good for our souls. I know Sue will whack gently, as I've already experienced her whack and survived!
Please get in touch with me if you would like additional information.
Just Keep Writing, Anna Christine
This has been a fantastic course covering great information no only on writing short stories but then getting them out there.
John Malnor is a pleasure to work with and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to TWP. He provided an in-depth, comprehensive review of my manuscript, and his support and guidance throughout the last two rounds of 100 Day Book helped me set and meet my goals.
I was so impressed with Kyle. He knew my manuscript in detail, remembering chapters and scenes as we discussed them. He gave me helpful feedback and ideas about filling in the structural holes. He was easy to speak with and very efficient. His thoughtful commentary and suggestions made me feel better and energized about my work and the rewrite ahead of me. I can't say enough nice things about him as a professional and as a person.
I had a fantastic experience getting started at The Write Practice with Joe. He was incredibly supportive, wicked smart, and quick to respond. With his assistance, I feel fully prepared and excited to dive into my book project. I'm thrilled about our progress and ready to move forward; I am confident in completing my book in 100 days!
Loved working with Joe. He has really helped me with my ideas and sharpened my thought process. Thanks so much.
I really appreciate the feedback and support from Joe on my book plan. I'm a brand new author and this is my first time taking The Write Practice, and so far, i'm really impressed and excited!
I was super impressed with so much that Joe could intuit regarding my story from the materials I submitted – his insight and guidance is invaluable. He combines depth with simplicity, not over-complicating the matters at hand. There's such an art to combining the creative/intuitive/generative aspects of drafting and the editorial/analytical aspects of writing/revising. I easily get lost on either end – too much unstructured pantsing and then too much over-analytical plotting. Joe's insight and warm encouragement are setting me up for success, and I am confident that I will write a solid working draft with the book plan we collaborated on.
I had a great experience working on my book plan with Joe. I'm looking forward to more collaboration in the future.
Joe's lateral approach to my book plan really had me thinking about the direction of my novel and development of storyline and characters – a great insight.
Kyle was encouraging and helpful with his feedback. This was my first experience with professional coaching, and I am so glad I tried it. I'm looking forward to our next session.
Kyle is fast, responsive, and knows his horror/thriller structure.
Kyle is very good with communicating and has been very helpful with my manuscript review. He provided me with a lot of resources and has been very supportive. I feel more confident as a writer with his guidance.
Kallista knows her stuff.
Alicya brings thoughtful and nuanced encouragement. What follows is clarity. Every writer needs a smart reader in the room with them. Thank you Alicya.
Working with Kyle Cisco was absolutely the best. I highly regard his advice in making corrections to my manuscript to improve it. We talked about future endeavors, such as using him as my next editor for my final manuscript review and hiring him as my publicist. I am so excited about working with him in the near future. He is the go-to person I will seek out to get me where I need to be to become a successful published author.
Jamie has done a wonderful job of identifying weak area of my novel.
Very thoughtful, precise, and informative. I'm looking forward to working with Joe.
I was very pleased with Joe's feedback/assessment of my book plan. I wish I had applied for this program two years ago!
