  • How to choose and navigate publishing options (traditional and self-publishing)

Here are the topics we’ll cover in each lesson:

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Short Stories, Story Elements, and Idea Generation. In this lesson, you'll learn how to write captivating short stories by mastering essential elements like plot, characterization, point of view, and idea generation. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you'll gain the skills and confidence to craft compelling stories and get them published.
  • Lesson 2: Testing Ideas, Writing Strategies, Tightening, and Editing. In this class, you'll learn techniques for evaluating your short story ideas, writing your story, and editing it into a polished final draft. The lesson covers methods for testing and outlining story ideas, tips for efficient short story writing, and a thorough editing process to help you revise your story at both a structural and sentence level.
  • Lesson 3: Publishing and Professionalism. This final class in the series covers how to publish your polished short stories, including a detailed look at the traditional publishing process from finding markets to understanding contracts, as well as an overview of self-publishing options. The lesson also discusses the importance of professionalism and treating writing as a job to build a successful career.

Yes! All the lessons will be recorded, so if you can’t make it live, make sure to sign up for the paid course to watch the recordings.

What if don't live in the United States?

This course is open to all authors and aspiring authors, whether in the United States, Europe, Australia, India, or elsewhere. If you want to write a book, this course is for you. Keep in mind that you’ll gather live on Zoom several times a month with your mastermind cohort, and let us know in your application which of our available time slots works best for you.

When do the payments for the membership end?

You can continue to receive the classes, access to the community and workshops, and access to past classes indefinitely. If you’d like to end your payments, just let us know at admin [at] thewritepractice [dot] com. 

Do the classes include individualized feedback?
