The Book Plan: Scrivener Templates to Plan Your Book

In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable. —Dwight D. Eisenhower

I believe one of the biggest reasons most people fail at finish their books is because they don't start with a plan.

In 2014, I started coaching a small group of writers to write a book. 100 percent of those people have finished their book. That’s right, all of them.

When I tell my friends in publishing this, they’re shocked. The idea of a writing program with a success rate at 100 percent is barely believable.

One of the main reasons the class is successful is because during the first two weeks, we create a book proposal, which is is basically a holistic attack plan for a book. The book plan helps them think through their book, but it also gives them a guide, almost a map, to work through during the rest of the semester.

How then do you create a book plan?

Introducing The Book Plan

The Book Plan is our detailed and practical system to help you plan your book faster and improve the chances of finishing your book, condensed into two templates for Scrivener so you can go from planning to writing as soon as possible.

It will help you:

  • Develop a rock solid idea that will last through your entire book, whether it's 30,000 words or 120,000 words.
  • Craft a practical outline that leaves space for fresh ideas during the writing process but also gives enough structure to sustain a full book.
  • Identify your ideal reader, who will provide inspiration and motivation during the writing process
  • Think through your book's competition, so you can both find your most unique niche but also begin to learn from other books similar to yours.
  • Find the right word count for your book, your genre, and your publishing plans

Here's what The Book Plan includes:

  • One non-fiction and one fiction template for Scrivener
  • Our best resources for developing a plan for your book
